Two district offices of the U.S. Minerals Management services are presenting their 2008 Safety Awards For Excellence (SAFE Award) to crews of the ROWAN LOUISIANA and BOB PALMER.
Inspectors visited the crews on numerous occasions, where they documented the crews’ exemplary performance in terms of safety, company policy, regulatory requirements and environmental compliance during operations on the Gulf of Mexico’s Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).
The LOUISIANA had a total of 11 MMS inspections in 2008. Eight inspections were in the Houma, Louisiana District and three were in the Lake Charles District while crews worked for three different operators in three different locations. The BOB PALMER also had 11 MMS inspections. Crew members of the LOUISIANA and BOB PALMER were not cited with a P-103 Incident of Noncompliance (INC), which is a great accomplishment.
LOUISIANA crews earned the honor from the MMS Lake Charles, Louisiana District and the BOB PALMER from the Lake Jackson , Texas District.
Additionally, MMS officials subjected numerous BOB PALMER crew members to Well Control tests twice in 2008 and once so far in 2009. All employees have passed the tests.
Last year, crews of the ALASKA, CECIL PROVINE and GORILLA II were presented with the MMS Lafayette, Louisiana District’s SAFE award after a total of 12 inspections of the three rigs.
“The District Offices present the District SAFE Award to OCS companies displaying the most exemplary performance on a single platform, rig, field, unit, or throughout an entire District,” the MMS said.
Rowan Companies, Inc. congratulates and thanks the crews of the ROWAN LOUISIANA and BOB PALMER for bringing this honor to the crew members and Rowan.
